Sent To Prison For Faith In Christ Jesus

Today’s post takes the focus off us in America, and instead looks overseas at a problem I never really considered before...

something that truly humbles me.

What If You & I Were Imprisoned TODAY For Believing In Christ?

We easily ‘shake-off’ that thought because it doesn’t happen here, in America.

But it DOES HAPPEN TODAY, World-Wide:

    • This includes countries where government policy or practice prevents Christians from obtaining Bibles or other Christian literature. Also included are countries where government-sanctioned circumstances or anti-Christian laws lead to Christians being harassed, imprisoned, killed or deprived of possessions or liberties because of their witness. (see map Here)

  • 13(Thirteen) - HOSTILE AREAs

    • This includes large areas in nations where governments consistently attempt to provide protection for the Christian population, but Christians are victims of violence because of their witness.

I write about this today because I am more convinced than ever

of the need to reach others for Christ.

In the past we have heard stories about the Communist governments in Russia and China imprisoning Christians,

but now I have learned of other countries that do the same today.

One person wrote a book on such instances in his home country, and started a group to aid others in the freedom for Jesus:

Voice Of The Martyrs  at Persecution.com.

While the website is based on recent historical events, here is a brief summary from a current News Release:

Three Iranian believers were set free on Saturday, April 30, 2011 after 238 days in prison. A fourth believer who was arrested at the same time remains in custody.

Friends who have seen the three released believers say they are very weak and thin. Though free, they may be called before a judge and re-imprisoned at any time. Please pray for Pastor Vahik, who remains in prison.
On the day Pastor Vahik and the other three were arrested, several other Christians in Hamadan were also arrested by security forces. Iranian state TV later reported that nine Christians had been arrested on charges of spreading Christian propaganda. Read more Here.

It may be hard to believe, yet is still all too real.

We who follow Christ like to believe that our history of atrocities on non-believers of the past can all be forgotten, but today our own brothers and sisters may find themselves in chains, stoned, hung, or jailed, simply for reading a bible, owning one, or sharing “the word” with others in a quiet place.

At minimum, may we re-think where we vacation around the globe.

And if you still find it difficult to consider helping a criminal in America,

or giving aid to the family they left behind,

then will you consider this?

Write to a foreign prisoner for Christ. (Learn more Here)

As I grow older and learn more

I realize I don’t want to be a spectator any longer.

And I am Unapologetic for my faith in Jesus Christ.

Where are You?
